Applications

Applicants should note the following key information with respect to the receipt and assessment of applications:

Submission of applications

The Joint Authority invites work program bids and cash bids for the 2014 Acreage Release. Areas are clearly identified as either a “work program area” or a “cash bid area”. Bidders are requested to pay particular attention to the specific submission requirements for each of the bid applications.

Work program exploration permit applications

One (1) bound copy and one (1) searchable electronic copies (on CD or USB) of the application for each single work program area, along with the relevant Application Form and application fee, must be received by the National Offshore Petroleum Titles Administrator (NOPTA) on behalf of the Joint Authority before the closing date for each respective work program round.

The application should be sealed and clearly marked as “Application for Area (insert reference), Commercial-in-Confidence”. This envelope or package should be enclosed in a plain covering envelope or package and hand delivered to either of the addresses below:

Cash bid exploration permit application (Prequalification)

Each applicant who intends to place a bid for a cash bid area must first prequalify with the Joint Authority by providing evidence of their technical and financial competence. One prequalification application can be submitted for all cash bid acreage release areas which the applicant intends to bid on. The applicant may be a joint venture comprised of more than one company. Further information on prequalification is available in the Cash Bidding Guidelines.

One (1) electronic copy of the prequalification application for each applicant, along with the relevant Application Form and application fee, must be received by NOPTA on behalf of the Joint Authority by 4:00pm (WST) on Thursday 30 October 2014.

Prequalification applications must be submitted to: cash.bidding@nopta.gov.au. A receipt of prequalification application will be issued by NOPTA to the applicant.

Cash bid exploration permit application (Auction process)

Applicants who satisfy the prequalification criteria will be advised of their eligibility to submit a cash bid application for the area or areas.

Cash bid applications must be received before 4:00pm (WST time) on Thursday 5 February 2015. Details of how to submit a cash bid, including the process for payment of the 10 per cent deposit (in AUD), will be provided in the notice of invitation to bid following prequalification.

Application Fees

The amount of the relevant application fee is prescribed in Regulations under the Act. Please refer to NOPTA's website and the Schedule of Fees for the current application fees.
